iRelaunch Team Spotlight: Monique Antoinette Millet

Hi there! I’m Monique, one of iRelaunch’s newest team members and the Marketing Manager. I started over the summer, a fews weeks after the COVID-19 outbreak. My journey to iRelaunch has been an interesting one.

As a woman of color, I believe in empowering those around me whose voices aren’t always heard, and I am able to accomplish that in many ways through social media and marketing. So while I haven’t taken a career break, I think it’s important for many people and it allows you to figure out what it is you want from your life.

But let’s back up a bit…

My family has always been the inspiration behind my drive and determination to succeed and be better...for them. My mother was never afforded the opportunity to go to college, let alone graduate highschool, since she had me at such a young age. But she and my grandmother have always encouraged me to continue my education and growth as an individual. Sometimes they don’t realize how much they helped to shape the woman I am today. If it wasn’t for them, I would be another statistic.

I attended the University of Central Florida, as a first generation college student, and graduated with a B.A. in Public Relations and Mass Communications. Shortly after graduating from college, I began my career in social media marketing and eventually made the big move to New York City. As a 20-something-year-old professional, I had the world at my fingertips. I always had an interest in Fashion/Makeup, so I began freelancing in the fashion industry. I worked over three seasons of New York Fashion Week. And as much as I loved it, I did find the industry to be very hard and  I decided to step away from it (even if it was a temporary decision) and to work in an industry where I could  elevate the voices of the unheard.

I went on to work at Scholastic, Michael Kors, Discovery Inc: Animal Planet, Science Channel, and Discovery Channel and Teach for America. All experiences blessed me with the skills I have now. When I found the opportunity at iRelaunch, I was so intrigued by the thought of people taking a break to figure out life as my mother did with giving birth to me. I commend all the men and women who have done so -- especially (because of my own life journey) those who took their break for their children. As one of those children, we truly appreciate your presence in our lives.

My Grandparents

I have such a blessed life thanks to the two sets of parents I’ve had (my parents & my grandparents) but especially to my mother and my grandmother. I have a beautiful little family that consists of my partner, Kevin and our energetic Shiba Inu, Ginger. Both of whom are redheads. The three of us have experienced new cities, careers, and passions together.

Alongside my professional career, I am now also on a personal journey to figure out the type of content I can contribute in my own l time. My true passion lies in creating content, finding inspiration in my interests: fashion, makeup artistry, outdoor activities, travelling (I even lived in China for a bit but that’s a story for another time). I try and capture my life through creative content when I can find the time. Follow my journey on my Instagram (@ moniqueantoinettee ) and feel free to reach out! I love meeting new people.
