Employer Chats

What do I need to prepare before the Conference?

We strongly recommend you ensure your camera and microphone settings are set up prior to the May 19th networking day in case a sponsor asks you to video chat. Follow these helpful tips to prepare and troubleshoot any issues:

  • Make sure you close out of any unnecessary applications or windows, refreshing your page, and trying again.
  • Make sure the volume on your computer is turned up. Brazen will ping you when you are entered into a Chat with a recruiter.
  • Make sure you have strong Internet connectivity. Weak connections can often create disruptions in audio and video. In order to address this issue, try switching to an alternative Internet source.
  • Is your browser up to date? Make sure you have the latest version of your browser. We recommend using Chrome, but Brazen also supports Firefox, Safari and MS Edge.
  • Is your camera, mic and screen share enabled? Review your browser settings to make sure your browser can have access to your camera, mic and screen share. Also, check your device settings to make sure your audio, camera and screen settings are set to the preferred channels.
  • Check your settings by browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, MS Edge
  • See more in-depth information on technical requirements.

How do I find out if I'm eligible for an organization's return to work program?

You can find an up to date listing of the sponsoring employers that will be recruiting at the May Conference on the event page. For specific details about each employer's return to work program, open positions and eligibility requirements, please click on the sponsor’s logo which will take you to the employer's information page about their program.

iRelaunch does not have specifics into the details of each employer's program, so it is best to conduct your own research by referencing Steps 19 and 20 of the Roadmap to guide you in your own employer research. Access the Roadmap by logging into your iRelaunch account and entering the Roadmap Product from your Library.

We highly recommend you do this research ahead of time so that you can make the most efficient use of your networking day with employers. Use your organizational research to develop your own strategy of which employers are at the top of your list to chat with on networking day.

Will I have to choose between listening to speakers or chatting with employers?

No, May 17th and 18th will be dedicated content days (no networking or chatting with employers). On May 19th, the dedicated networking day, there will be no live broadcasts.

Will chats be 1:1 or in groups?

All chats are 1:1

Are chats text-based or audio/video?

Can we choose and select a person with whom we want to chat with in a particular booth?

You are able to select which sponsor's booths you would like to chat with, however the Brazen platform will match you with a sponsor representative based on your place in line and which representatives are available at that time.

Please understand that all attendees may not be able to speak with all the employers of their choice as there are a limited number of representatives allotted for each sponsor.

How should we dress?

An employer may invite you to engage in a video chat, so wear something you would be comfortable wearing in that situation. We also recommend you are aware of what is in your background.

How do we contact an employer after the Conference?

Ask for their contact information during your chat. If you were unable to connect with a recruiter at a sponsoring organization that you are interested in, please note that some sponsors have chosen to make the names of their recruiters and other employer representatives visible within their booths on the Brazen platform. Note that iRelaunch is not authorized to provide registrants with names or contact information of sponsor representatives or recruiters.

Can I see my chat transcript and notes after the event?

Yes, you will have access to this information for 6 months after the Conference. Go to the “History” tab in your Brazen account to see this information. For more information, see Brazen's helpful information page on how to access chat transcripts.

Are there some sponsors participating that will not have representatives available for chats?

All sponsors who are participating will have representatives on hand to chat except SWE.

I received a request for a scheduled chat with a representative. How do I accept?

Please follow the instructions here. Be sure to respond and then log in and show up when the time comes!

Will I be able to chat with all sponsoring employers I'm interested in?

Please understand that all attendees may not be able to speak with all the employers of their choice as there are a limited number of representatives allotted for each sponsor.

It's important to note that, just like with any in-person conference event where you may be several people deep in line to wait and talk with a representative at a booth, that there will be queues in the line to chat with sponsors and depending on the time of day and staffing of the booths, certain times may have a longer wait than others (such as when the Networking Day first begins). Expect there to be around 250 - 300 other relaunchers in the event at any given time.

How do I find out the names of the recruiters at each sponsoring organization?

If you were unable to connect with a recruiter at a sponsoring organization that you are interested in, please note that some sponsors have chosen to make the names of their recruiters and other employer representatives visible within their booths on the Brazen platform. Note that iRelaunch is not authorized to provide registrants with names or contact information of sponsor representatives or recruiters.

Job Opportunities

Should we apply for a job opportunity before the Conference?

Yes! You can view open roles in the employer booths in Brazen by logging in to the May 19th networking day; the link can be found in your iRelaunch account. If you see any roles you are interested in, you should apply and then mention it during your employer chat. Also be sure to register on the Job Board to see any jobs posted by these and other employers (even after the conference ends!).

Should we have a cover letter?

We encourage you to have a cover letter when you submit your resume.

Do the employers have access to resumes ahead of time?

Yes, employers have access to attendee demographic information and resumes ahead of time.

Should we ignore job location when searching open positions?

If you are interested in a job, be straightforward with employers about whether you could relocate. Some employers may be moving to virtual jobs, but this is employer and role specific.

Do all individuals have a chance to get a job?

All relaunchers (people who have been on a career break) have a chance to get a job.

Am I eligible to apply if I’ve done occasional part time work or worked outside of my primary field?

This varies by employer and we highly recommend you do some research on the employer's return to work program and eligibility before the networking day. Even if you're still not sure whether you're eligible, we do encourage employers to be flexible in their definition of a career break so don’t self select out and assume you're ineligible, but do be transparent about your career break and what you did during that time.

Relauncher Community Support

Is there a way to connect with other relaunchers and attendees as a way to support each other during this process?

Yes! Join our private iRelaunch Return To Work Forum Facebook group and LinkedIn Group.

Please note the Facebook group is limited to relaunchers only and you must answer the two questions AND agree to the rules in order to be admitted. Please be sure you scroll down to answer all questions and agree to the rules or you will not be admitted.

We’ve also created a "Post Topic" or hashtag within this Facebook group for May 2022 Conference attendees to use. Tag your post to connect with others attending the Conference.

Finally, we would love for you to add to the voice to the relaunchers, recruiters and professionals alike engaging in conversation and discussions on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
