iRelaunch Staff Spotlight: Kayce Turner
Meet Kayce Turner, the iRelaunch Director of Firm-wide Administration and Support. Kayce is a master at managing the details at iRelaunch and quips that “no two days are ever the same.” Below, Kayce tells us a little more about herself.
Q: Where did you grow up and attend school?
A: I grew up in Madison, WI, then attended high school in Troy, NY at The Emma Willard School. I graduated The American University in Washington, DC with a major in Communications and a minor in Sociology.
Q: Can you tell us about your family?
A: I have been married to Scott for 33 years. We have three great children and one adorable granddaughter.
Q: What has your career journey been like?
A: My first job out of college was with a public relations firm in DC. I then went on to complete my series 7 brokerage exam and worked as the Branch Manager’s assistant at Smith Barney. We moved to Richmond, VA in 1985 for my husband’s career and have lived there since.
Q: Has your career journey included a career break?
A: I have actually taken two career breaks. The first one was for 10 years to raise our three children. I then went back to work in a part time role at a family owned, internet diamond company in Richmond. After five years I took over full time as the office manager. I worked at the diamond company for 12 years before taking a second career break; this time for two years to help my husband care for his parents.
Q: How & why did you come to work at iRelaunch?
A: One day I met with a long-time, good friend of mine for lunch. At that time she held the lead marketing role for iRelaunch. During our conversation I mentioned to her that I was looking to get back into the workforce. A couple of weeks later she called to inform me of a possible opportunity at iRelaunch. That was 2 and a half years ago. What began in March of 2015 as an Executive in Residence position, focusing on one aspect of the iRelaunch business, has turned into a role that encompasses administration, accounting, Conference logistics and much more. My story is an example of how important networking can be. What was meant to be a casual lunch between friends turned into my next career endeavor.
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: I love spending time with family and friends at the River, hosting meals, playing golf and boating.
Q: Any other thoughts to share?
A: It never ceases to amaze me what an impact iRelaunch has on our relaunch community and the companies that support our efforts. I am so proud to be part of this amazing team!
