Dr. Marcelle BouDagher-Fadel

Principal Research Fellow, University College London
7 year career break

"After completing my PhD in Palaeontology in 1986, I married and had two sons, and stayed home with them for the next seven years. When they were settled in school, I was able to return to part time research at the University College of London, thanks to a Daphne Jackson Fellowship, completed in 1996. Since then, I have chosen to continue working part time at UCL , researching, teaching, and consulting for industry. I have published extensively, and have developed an expertise in the study of microfossils in petrological thin sections which give me a unique skill, which is sought after by oil companies. I am currently a Principal Research Fellow in the office of the Vice-Provost for Research at UCL."

Daphne Jackson is a UK program that returns professionals in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Technology to their careers after at least a 2 year break, through flexible, part-time, paid fellowships that include research and retraining. www.DaphneJackson.org
