Mental Health Clinician, The Home for Little Wanderers
15 year career break

"I worked as a public relations executive before my first child was born and then worked part-time in that field until I had my third child. For the next 15 years, I decided to become a full-time mom and part-time volunteer. One of my favorite volunteer commitments was as a reading tutor in a Boston Public Elementary School. I loved getting to know the kids but was often disheartened to hear how difficult their lives were.

These conversations inspired me to go back to school for a Master's degree in Social Work on a part-time basis. My program required two different internships. One of my internships was with The Home for Little Wanderers (HLW) - the largest and oldest social service agency in New England. I worked in an inner-city mental health clinic and loved the work! Once I got my degree, I went back to HLW as a part-time mental health clinician. I am now working with women on welfare who are striving for financial independence for themselves and their families - demanding but extremely rewarding!"
