Relaunch Success Stories
After several years of a successful litigating career, including starting my own practice, I took a 7 year sabbatical to focus on my three young children. Continuous professional development was a high priority for me and I used my career break to complete a Master of Laws degree. I spent more time away from my career than anticipated, so when I was ready to return, I pursued executive-level training and obtained my corporate directors' accreditation. I needed to regain my confidence and found the Ivey School of Business' ReConnect Program, Canada's first leadership renewal program for professional women returning to work. The ReConnect program helped me refresh and refine my business knowledge and skills, and showed me how to approach my job search in a strategic and practical way. Using the networking skills gained through the ReConnect program, I took every opportunity to market myself. After speaking with another lawyer at a charity fundraising event, he introduced me to his client, a publicly traded energy company. I am back on track, employed as in-house legal counsel at Echo Energy Canada Inc.
