I started my career at IBM, first as a Human Factors Engineer and then as a Systems Engineer. I worked part-time after I had my first child and left the paid workforce entirely when my second child was born. I had a third child while on career break. I was home for about eight years doing various volunteer jobs in the public schools and at my synagogue, and started back very part-time in a Post Baccalaureate licensure program in teaching at Framingham State College when my youngest entered first grade. It took me about five years to finish the program. I have now been teaching high school English for 5 years. Two of my kids are in college and one just started high school so the entire family is in a whole different life stage. I am thrilled with my new career direction. For me, a gradual relaunch was the best way to go.
